Butterfly Pictures

Butterfly Pictures from New Hampshire & Vermont

The butterfly pictures in this gallery were all taken in New Hampshire and Vermont. We will continue to add butterflies as we "catch" them, and hope eventually to cover a majority of the myriad beautiful species found in New England. Currently, we are unable to identify at least one these butterfly pictures; any corrections would be greatly appreciated. In taking these photographs I would often see a butterfly such as the Question Mark below who was missing large sections of wing, and yet was still able to fly without any noticeable trouble. I was struck that the butterflies were much more rugged than their delicate nature suggests. In any case, I have been smitten by the challenge and rewards of collecting butterfly pictures.
All photographs in this gallery were taken with Nikon Coolpix 990 or 950 digital cameras.
